Viva Las Vegas baby!!!

Well, time has been going by WAY to quickly....I fear that the summer is going to be over in no time and the holidays will be right around the corner. The great thing about summer is all the fun trips that we take and the outdoor adventures that we get to participate in, but that means that my blogging time and my time at the computer is less, thus leaving my poor blog sitting idle sometimes and for that I do apologize. :) I now will try to fill in some gaps about the happenings of the last few weeks.

We went to Vegas from the 3rd thru the 8th, well really the 9th since our plane landed in Portland at 2:30am :) The trip was a celebration/bachelor/bachelorette party for the upcoming wedding of my little brother Scott to my soon to be wonderful sister-in-law Andrea. We hit vegas at just the right time and got to experience some of the hottest days that they have seen in a few years. Each day was anywhere between 110-120 degrees :) WOW was it hot!!! Thank goodness for AC, pools and lakes near by :)!!!!! So, we hit the strip a few days and evenings, rented a "party boat" and some wave runners one day and spent the day on Lake Mead, we went out to a REALLY FANCY dinner all dressed up and then say Ka, a cirque du soleil show and played our fair share of volleyball in my in-laws pool! :) It was a really fun time and was a great start to the wedding events that are to come. One sad note, the last day we were there Andrea received a call from her grandfather letting her know that her grandmother, who has been fighting (like a champ) a pretty tough bout with cancer was not doing very well. She was in Oklahoma at the time at a very wonderful cancer treatment center. So, Scott and Andrea booked tickets from Vegas to Oklahoma to be with her grandmother and grandfather. The end of last week her grandmother went to be with her Lord and Savior. We are so thankful that she is out of pain and in the arms of her Lord, but we will miss her here on earth! Please keep Scott, Andrea and Andrea's family in your prayers this week as they travel to Wisconsin to attend her funeral. Her grandma was a very, very special person in Andrea's life and this is a very hard time for her. Again, please pray for them as they try to coop with such a huge loss and at the same time get ready for the wedding and the beginning of Scott and Andrea's college career and Andrea's first college basketball season.

This leads me to the other major event that has been keeping me from blogging.....helping with the wedding. As you can see from the last bit of info, this is really a team effort to help make this wedding wonderful for Scott and Andrea! I LOVE weddings and all the fun details that go into them, so it is not a problem for me to step up and help them pull it together, the main concern is that it is a wonderful day and a great memory for the two of them!!! So, I will keep you posted on the wedding since that is the subject on my mind right now :) Okay, gotta run and work on those other duties that I keep overlooking, like laundry, dishes and house cleaning. :)

It has begun

I knew this day would come and to be honest, I can't believe it has taken this long given Addie's creative mind, but for the first time this afternoon Addison came to tell on Macy.....for something SHE did. :) I was getting changed for a softball game and Addison came running up to me, "Macy needs help, she broke your thing". I was not sure what she was talking about and so I went to the family room where I found Macy laying in a large pile of beads from a necklace of mine that had been on the counter. Addison said again " Macy broke it....oh no! ". I turned to her and asked " did you brake it? We both know that Macy can't do that kind of thing." She did quickly say that she did brake my necklace but did add that Macy helped. I don't know why, but for some reason this incident made me laugh inside. I guess it was just one of those stepping stones that made me realize that I have two children and I am very blessed. I am not sure if that makes sense to anyone else, if not, just continue with your previous analysis of me, that I am crazy :) HAHAHA

Welcome Home Party at Riverfront!!!!

Wow......really??? I can't believe that I have not done anything in June .......opps :) I am really a big slacker :) Sorry!!! So, I will start with a friendly reminder that tomorrow we are having a BBQ at the Riverfront park in the covered area. We are having a welcome home/we appreciate you party for Scott. Given all the unknowns surrounding his return and the fact that we had to reserve the area in advance, this was the best day to pick. We are thankful and grateful that he returned to us a few weeks ago, but really feel that we can not thank him, and all of the other troops in his unit, enough. They risked their lives and sacrificed over a year of their lives to help protect our freedom. What an amazing act!!! So, if anyone has some free time tomorrow, June 23rd between 11 and 3pm please come on by!!! We are going to have a free lunch and have some games set up to play in the park! It should be a great time!!! So bring the family!!!! See you tomorrow!!!

Welcome Jaren Connor Pierce!!!

So our memorial day weekend was a very memorable one :) It started with the safe return of Scott from Afghanistan, then my grandpa "D" turned 85 on Sunday and we all were woken up at 5:30am on Monday with the exciting news that Kristi's (my older sister) water broke and she was in the hospital getting ready to have her first baby!!! Not sure if everyone knows, Kristi and her husband Sean live in Bend and so we all headed over the mountain. We arrived around noon and went to say hello and pass on a few words of encouragement. She was 6 centimeters dilated and was making good progress, except for the fact that the babies heart rate kept dropping when she had a contraction. The doctor was on his way in to check her and so we all decided to head to the 2nd floor and grab a bite to eat. As we were all dishing up our meals, we hear over the intercom "code pink room 161"..........WAIT that is Kristi's room. Before we could call to Sean and see what a code pink was he called us and told us that they had to have an emergency c-section right away.....well I know many people who ended up with an emergency c-section, including myself, but let me tell you this was not the same process. My brother in law did not even get to go in the room and from the time the rushed her out of the room until the returned to Sean (who was just sitting and waiting for info..oh yeah, and praying) with a baby boy it really was like 5 minutes. I guess he did not get to go because they had to do it so quickly there was not even time to get him and bring him in. They were all ready to give her a general if she was not numb enough because they really had NO TIME.....this is really an emergency c-section and I am thankful for such wonderful Doctors and nurses that acted so quickly to ensure the overall safety of Kristi and Jaren. So after all of that Kristi and Sean welcomed a BEAUTIFUL baby boy, Jaren Connor Pierce, 7 lb 15 oz and 20 inches long!!!! He is SUPER cute and perfect in every way!!! It turns out that he was having so much trouble because the cord was wrapped around his neck 2 times and his chest/body once.....I think that would make anyone have a little trouble. I can't wait to go back this weekend and help my sister with her new little bundle!!! What an amazing gift from God!!! After 7 1/2 years of waiting and praying and wondering God gave Kristi and Sean a perfect gift!!!! Makes you stop and thank the Lord for the perfect gifts in my life and also for the comforting knowledge that His plan is perfect and He knows what is best for you!!! Thank you Lord!!!! Oh, yeah, pictures to come this weekend!!! :)

Welcome Home Scotty!!!

What a weekend we have had!! It all started off with a wonderful homecoming for Scott. It was really great to see him and to have him back in our daily lives!! He is such a fun addition to our family and we have all really missed him! Here is a picture that was on the Statesman Journal online page....not sure if it ever made it to the paper. :) I think it is pretty cute and very appropriate. I am pretty sure that Addison is one of Scotty's biggest fans and was SOOO happy to have him home to play with!!! Bilde
